First 'Byte'
It's hard to know how to filter through all the new developments and changes in technology, especially home technology. This blog is going to take bite sizes to help us all digest the trends and changes in a more palatable way. (Must be hungry given these analogies, even so, I think they work.)
To start, check out this great talk from www.Ted.Com. Ted is one of my favourite sites. It covers a broad cross section of topics linked by one of three themes: technology, education and design. The one I am recommending introduces siftables, very cool blocks that communicate with one another. This demonstrates the possibilities of human interaction with technology, “on the fly”. I see this as an indicator of what is in store for us where user interaction and the need for more dynamic control of our environment might just intersect. Here is the link. www.ted.com/talks/david_merrill_demos_siftables_the_smart_blocks.html
One more morsel..... I chair the Green Task Force for our association. One of my goals is to ensure that as we include more solutions for sustainability we offer real value and avoid the temptation to simply re-brand as “Green” our current offerings. My term for this is “me too marketing”, where we are in a rush to jump into the new ‘trend’ however it doesn't really add value. I welcome input on this subject, especially as we offer new solutions.
Keep your observations, questions and pearls of wisdom flowing this way.
